‘  ooooo, big words.  ’   but he doesn’t argue further.

now, hesitant with that attitude but not completely uncertain of his own
abilities, he shifts the weight of his dufflebag to rest on one hip so that
he can busy himself with the very    careful act of examining the injury
at …  hand.  ( the mental tack-on of ‘no pun intended’ doesn’t stop the
crack of a smile along his features. )   regardless,   it’s swollen to shit,
careful fingers treading lightly over the area to occasionally press
down for signs of breakage.

‘   as  it  so  happens,  i’m really good at avoiding trips to the ER. s’like
a parlor trick. street magic. pick a few things up here n’ there, and …
he clicks his tongue here,   trailing off as if amused by his owns antics.
amused, yeah, but not entirely useless; the strap of his dufflebag slips
over his head and hits the pavement with a very light thump. gaze bee-
lines right on back to the other’s hand,         twirling a finger around the
impressive pinkish-purple of the knuckles.        it’s tender there, yeah?
fractured in a coupla’ places.   you already know that.   lucky for you,  i
can fix it – free of charge.  no asterisk.  sans quid quo pro.  not even
a shady backalley bj or nothin’.

it’s tempting to punch this man in the face. hell, even to spit in his direction -
and he hated a habit as nasty as that. but he’s the only one offering help and
the last thing he needs is a trip to the hospital. those bills are better left avoided
and he’s happier away from those bright white walls. he’s unable to hold back
the wince as the man takes his hand, pain shooting up from where he was touched
to his whole arm. definitely broke something. the most he could hope for, however,
was it wasn’t too serious. he still had classes to teach, no matter how fucked
up he’d get himself.

an offer like that’s too good to be true. people always wanted something
in return. there was always some price to pay for anything a person may need
or want. firsthand experience taught him that the hard way. but he kept his thoughts
inside and his attitude in check. a sigh escaped and he looked up to the other.
i’ll be pretty damn glad if you’re really willing to fix it, though.
