He gave the man a little smile as he looked down into his wallet once more. He bit at his lip - he wouldn’t have been spending the money if he hadn’t run into the man’s table. But there was nothing he could do - he felt bad enough, it would only make him feel worse about himself to say that he couldn’t afford to buy a damn cup of coffee.
“No - no - I got it. It ain’t a big deal. Gimme a minute and I’ll be right back with that, yeah?”
He’d feel bad for the other having not enough money with him for just a coffee, but the anger was still there. Once that flare rose up, it was hard for him to tamper it down. The only thing the moment was giving him was a chance to practice acting as if he could let it roll off his shoulders. Shaking his head, he waved his hand in front as if to further show his decision.
