“She is a drama queen, really.”, Connor rolled his eyes and he was sure the only reason why he could pull this lie off as perfectly as he did in this very moment was because he wasn’t exactly lying. Michaela was a drama queen and a stupid one on top of everything. Sure, she was intelligent but she wasn’t exactly smart. not when it came to this. Then again…who was really smart when it came to dealing with murder?
This could have been it; the guy would never even consider connor as a murder suspect now and he’d not remember Michaela’s number by heart; he could go but…just to make sure, Connor decided to play charming. He didn’t miss the way the other one looked at him and while he was sure that his own ego had a big part in this, he was certain that the guy wanted him. He had a good taste; after all, he couldn’t be blamed for it.
“Let me make up for all of this with a free drink, huh? I mean, god knows what you thought you’d gotten yourself into just because Michaela decided to lose it like that. Order whatever you want and I’ll pay for it. —- It’s Connor, by the way, but you already knew that, didn’t you?”
It was a breath of fresh air to know that he wouldn’t have to worry the rest of the night. That he didn’t come across the phone of a psycho and would have to go looking over his shoulder at every turn. He could allow himself to relax and actually enjoy what the night might have planned for him before the chaos that would ensue the next night. Even if it was organized and he was able to vent himself, he considered Saturday nights to be the calm before his storm.
The most he expected from the other was to go off on his own. Do whatever he was doing before and resume his night in the way he saw fit. But when Connor offered him a drink, he turned in his seat and leaned against the bartop. The beer he had been nursing since he got there, just about half empty now, was swiped by the neck and he took a swig from it. Downing it all at once probably wouldn’t be the prettiest sight to see so he controlled himself.
“ Sounds like a plan. But I’ll have to finish this first. ” Maybe give them some more time to talk. Besides, how could he turn down a drink from a guy like him? “ Yeah, your sister made that perfectly clear to what remains of my eardrums. I’m Layne. ”
